Pas Great series but not the same without Everton Stark The plot s didn t quit add up and where a little of a mess You get thrown from left to right Try to follow up the author but know you are not really up to speed I missed a strong story line and I really missed Everton Stark, this character has given de last three books an edge that made the books fun to read and that was simply not in this book Pas any. Reine is just so awesome at creating characters that are just chock full of interesting bits10 13I ve had this book for a long time and just now finished it today I m not sure exactly why I didn t inhale it like I had with other S.M Reine books I think I had a hard time relating or understanding Deidre at times That and I wasn t all that thrilled with some of the future characters from previous books The twists in this book concerning Deidre, Everton, and Rhiannon were just wow With th Reine is just so awesome at creating characters that are just chock full of interesting bits10 13I ve had book I am really curious to see what happens next with all three since they weren t killed right off.I will say on a un related note omg Ophelia and Cooper I also had a stronger urge to smack Fritz in this series One of the great things that Reine does is to create multi faceted characters One minute you hate their guts and the next you are totally sympathetic to their plight Whoever the good guys or bad guys are can be wonderfully ambiguous at times They are great at conforming to their roles in whatever spot they are used in I fail explaining it right. One of the things I like about all of the different series is that they can be read separately and that they take place at different times in the same world Most of the first books in her different series are free, or the first three are a special price, so that you can easily start a series to see if you like the flavor of the books I would highly recommend reading everything she has written though I m still working on that myself I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the last book in the War of the Alphas book At this point, everything you think you know about these characters from the first book has drastically changed Stark s motivation is not pure, Rylie is not evil, and God might just be listening Deirdre has been taking drugs, acting like a criminal, and trying to win the vote for Stark From an underdog to a bully, she is pretty much completely unlikable for me at this point I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the last book in the War of the listening Deirdre has been taking drugs, acting like a criminal, and trying to win the vote for Stark From an underdog to a bully, she is pretty much completely unlikable for me at this point I found myself rooting for someone to either put her out of her misery or shake her out of whatever dark spiral she s caught in Somewhere along the way she winds up trying to hunt down the missing Stark and her entire campaign platform gets blown to pieces There s rigged elections to fix, Stark s children to rescue, and a world of shifters that are depending on her It really is no wonder that Deirdre breaks in the most spectacular way she can It was a little hard to read this one because it was so very dark Kind of like watching an abusive wife stick with her husband, it almost physically hurt to watch Deirdre continue to support Stark I wanted so much for her to be a tough female character but she comes off as very, very weak in the end We get a lot of resolution as I ve come to expect from this author , but I never quite forgave Deirdre for her mistakes especially in the end This world is a lot darker than those previous, but not any less intricate The world building was what kept me going Oh, and it never hurts to have some familiar faces in there When I first started War of the Alphas, I had high hopes for Deirdre and Stark The final volume of a series can make or break it, and no matter how much I enjoy the first or second in a series, if the concluding volume doesn t live up to the beginning, I find it affects my view on the whole thing. This was definitely the case with change for herself or for others She s just not a woman I can get behind She had so many chances and opportunities, and for whatever reason, she decided to stay in an abusive situation when she had the choice to easily get out of it She just didn t grow as a woman, and she just didn t have the strength of character I was hoping she d develop from the potentials of book one.The other characters likewise had similar issues I felt the conclusion of this book was less about Deirdre and Stark andabout making the main character from other parts of the world seem better, that those characters had the redeeming qualities and using Deirdre and Stark to confirm this. The ending, most of all, left me soured Had the book ended a little later with redemption or the substantial hope of it in the wings, I probably would have enjoyed it better, but at the end nothing changed, and that disappointed me most of all Pas An Urban Fantasy Novel Book 4 Well this was a disappointing end, to a sad story from the very beginning I haven t read that many books that I have completely delete from my collection, but the 4 of this series are getting dumped Deirdre Toombs even in the end is a sad, weak and difference and in the end through, her warped and perverted feelings for Stark, took it away Sorry I much prefer strong women who have the guts to get away from men or shifters who are violent, deadly, uncaring, think and act like only they have the right path for everyone s future, no matter how evil or destructive those ideas are Kathy Barber Doyle 6 1 2019 3.5 StarsA dark urban fantasy closes out this storyline well and the reader does get closure There are some pretty cool shifters and fae in these books I love that a dragon, a phoenix, and some naiads are included I look forward to the author s next work Pas is book 4 in the War of the Alphas series by SM Reine This series is a continuation of Reine s long running series which focuses on what happens after Genesis This is the the next Alpha and should participate in the election So she does what any good Beta would do She continues on like Stark is just busy and she is following his orders The problem with that Eventually, the allies are going to want Stark not Deirdre. In this epic finale of the War of the Alphas Deirdre found the answers to so many of her questions and I can t wait to see what she will do in the future of this continued world of Reine s Deirdre Tombs Is A Beta Without Her Alpha Everton Stark Is Missing, Just Days In Advance Of The Election To Replace Rylie Gresham As Leader Of All North American Shifters She Can T Control His Allies Any She Can T Win The Election Without HimEverything Will Be Lost Unless Deirdre Can Become A Better Monster Than Stark Godslayerthis whole series is excellent.I liked how Stark is dedicated to himself no matter what How Rylie wants to do right but can t because of her selfishness How Marion is a child but so smart But I especially like Deidre who is the center of the whole series How without her the plot falls apart She is what a hero is suppose to be, selfless, smart, hard working, puts others first, and can be only an Omega This series is a MUST READ BrilliantI ve read all the books up to this one and they are good reads I definitely recommend sm reine as an author.
